DENGUE - HAWAII, USA (2)
========================
[see ProMED archive.960428; see also Dengue diagnosis in the Caribbean ProMED
archive.960426]
[In response to request for information from C. Malcolm Grant] There is no
known [current] dengue transmission in Hawaii. The last epidemic on those
islands was in 1943-44.
DEN-1, DEN-2, and DEN-4 [viruses] all have been found in the Caribbean
islands in recent years. The viruses are endemic there and are maintained at
low transmission levels between outbreaks on many of the islands.
