The following background data on Legionnaire's disease in the Netherlands
were extracted from the GIDEON software program:
Year Cases
1989 55
1990 48
1991 32
1992 21
1993 43 (6 fatal)
1994 52
1995 42
1996 40 (rate = 0.258/100 000)
1997 48
1998 44
24 cases were acquired by Dutch tourists in Spain during 1987 to 1995.
Six cases (2 fatal) were acquired from a sauna in Haarlem during 1991 to
1996.
