[Anytime someone speaks of a "mad" wolf, there is the implication of
rabies. Virus-laden saliva could transmit rabies to the bitten people.
This article does not tell us anything about the health of the victims
prior to the attack. Furthermore, it does not tell us if the deceased
actually died of rabies, or of secondary infections associated with bite
wounds. However, it does lead the reader to believe rabies is responsible
for the demise of the victims. The article does not tell us if the wolf was
destroyed or if the brain was examined. The article does not tell us
post-exposure rabies immunoglobulin is being given to the other victims.
We would be grateful if someone would send more authoritative information
regarding this incident. - Mod.TG
