The department of animal resources at the Ministry of Agriculture and Water
announced yesterday [that foot and mouth disease (FMD) cases in the
country had fallen from 21 herds last week to 10 herds. "It means the
disease is gradually disappearing from the country," a statement said.
More than 3000 animals have been affected by the disease in various parts
of the country. The epidemic mainly affected the provinces of Riyadh, Hail,
Makkah, Qassim, and the Eastern Province, according to the Agriculture
Ministry.
