to be linked to bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). The position is as
follows:

[Since the previous monthly statistics released by the Department of Health
on Wed 5 Jun 2002, the number of deaths from definite or probable vCJD has
risen by 2, the total number of definite or probable vCJD cases (dead and
alive) has risen by 2, and the number of probable vCJD cases is unchanged.
The number of referrals has risen by 10.
The monthly increment of vCJD cases remains steady. The figures suggest
neither an imminent dramatic rise in the number of vCJD cases nor a
decline. - Mod.CP]
