As of Mon 4 Jun 2007, the Ministry of Health in China has informed WHO of
the country's 16th death from H5N1 avian influenza. A 19 year old male
soldier serving in Fujian province died on Sun 3 Jun 2007.
Of the 25 laboratory-confirmed cases in China, 16 have been fatal.

[This fatality brings the global total of laboratory confirmed deaths due
to H5N1 avian influenza virus infection to 187. Information on the nature
of the soldier's exposure is still not available. - Mod.CP]
