Avian influenza situation in Viet Nam - WHO update 4

The Ministry of Health in Viet Nam has announced the death of a
previously confirmed case of H5N1 infection. The 32-year-old male
from Kim Son district, Ninh Binh Province died on 25 Feb 2009.

Of the 109 cases confirmed to date in Viet Nam, 54 have been fatal.

[This is the official statement from WHO confirming the death of the
109th case in the country.

Ninh Binh province is one of the provinces where outbreaks of avian
influenza in poultry have been confirmed. It is located in the north
of the country and can be found in the map of the provinces of Viet
