Ebola Raids Gombe

Ebola [hemorrhagic fever] has been recently [reported] in Bombo and
Zirobwe in Luwero district. It has now raided Gombe Sub-county. A
total of 5 children from the same family have been admitted at Gombe
Hospital with Ebola [hemorrhagic fever] signs and symptoms.
Unfortunately one child has died before receiving treatment.

Ebola [hemorrhagic fever] on Saturday [14 May 2011] killed a
12-year-old girl at Bombo military hospital. Efforts have been made by
the Ministry of Health to fight the disease and funds have been
assigned at Bombo military hospital.

Ebola [hemorrhagic fever] signs and symptoms include fever, bleeding
through all body openings, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain,
headache, rash, red eyes and it comes into contact[sic] with infected
bloody fluids like saliva, blood, stool, vomit, urine and sweat.

[This report describes some additional suspected cases of Ebola
hemorrhagic fever, and a second fatality, in the Luwero district of
the Central Region of Uganda, close to the location of the index case.
All the cases reported so far appear to be children or young people.
Further information and confirmation of the diagnoses are awaited.
